Hi, I’m Vik Soni, the creator behind Simplify.IS. My journey in technology began long before cybersecurity became the buzzword it is today, back when “the cloud” was just something that ruined your picnic. With a solid foundation in system and network engineering, I’ve spent over a decade working at the intersection of IT and security, and have had the privilege of managing end-to-end technology and cybersecurity functions.
My professional path has taken me through a wide range of roles: from hands-on engineering to consulting, from architecting secure solutions to auditing for compliance. I hold a master’s degree in Computer Science from a highly accredited university in England, and I’ve earned several industry-leading certifications, including CISSP, CISM, PCI QSA, CISA, and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor. As a PCI QSA auditor and consultant, I’ve helped organisations of all sizes assess risk, implement frameworks, deploy technologies, and achieve compliance with global standards.
Why this blog? For two reasons:
- First, I believe in giving back to the community. Cybersecurity can be overwhelming, and I want to share what I’ve learned to help others navigate the maze.
- Second, I’ve found that teaching and writing about complex topics is the best way to deepen my own understanding. Every article here is as much a learning journey for me as it is a resource for you.
On the personal side, I’m a family man. My wife and I have two young boys who keep us on our toes. We love to travel and camp together, though our adventures have shifted from 4wd trips to more family-friendly destinations these days. Whether we’re playing, reading, or watching movies together, I cherish these moments and the balance they bring to my life.
